RV Trip to Hauts-de-France

Five days to unwind!

The sun is out, and for us, that was the perfect signal to get away for a bit. During the first week of spring break, we rented a motorhome from Urbano and headed to Hauts-de-France for five days. With temperatures around 20 degrees, nature coming to life, and quiet roads, we rediscovered just how ideal spring is for a short road trip. A few days away in a motorhome remains the perfect way for us to kick off the season: close to home, comfortable, and entirely at our own pace.

Choosing the Right Motorhome

It’s important to choose a motorhome that suits your travel plans. Whether you’re traveling as a couple, with friends, or with your family, you can find the ideal motorhome for any of these situations. That’s why we love renting from Urbano—they offer such a diverse selection, ranging from compact camper vans to spacious, fully equipped models. What we love most about renting is that you can set off worry-free. Everything you need is there so you can start enjoying your trip right away. As soon as you get the keys, your vacation has already begun.

Smart Loading and Stowage

Renting a motorhome means taking your home with you on wheels. That’s why we always pack thoughtfully. What do you really need from morning to night? You don’t need to bring anything else. Less is more. Water, a kitchen, bathroom facilities, storage space, and comfort are all provided. That makes traveling not only easy but also incredibly relaxing.

Toward France

Since we wanted to enjoy ourselves right away, we chose a destination not too far from home. From Limburg, we drove toward French Flanders and made our first stop in Boulogne-sur-Mer, a charming coastal town on the Opal Coast. On the outskirts of town, perched atop the cliffs, we found a spacious RV park that’s easily accessible via a payment kiosk. For just €9.90 a night, we were parked there with a view of the sea and a beautiful sunset. No electricity, but everything else was there. It’s a five-minute bike ride to the center, or a 15-minute walk. Cozy outdoor cafes, authentic brasseries, walks on the beach, or jogging in the dunes… you set the pace.

On to Le Touquet

After breakfast with a view of the sea, we packed up the motorhome and headed on to Le Touquet. What once seemed like faded glory now feels lively and stylish again. Renovations are underway everywhere, and the charm of “Paris-Plage” is making a full comeback. We spent the night at the racetrack for just €11, including electricity. Then we set off on our bikes along the coastal bike route: more than 100 kilometers long, perfectly signposted, and surprisingly beautiful. Highly recommended.

Enjoying the Somme Bay

From there, we headed toward the Bay of the Somme, with Le Crotoy as our next stop. It was a tip we got from other motorhome travelers—and it was well worth it. What a discovery. Beautiful bike trails wind past bodies of water, nesting birds, and expansive landscapes. Add to that fresh oysters, mussels, and typical northern French dishes, and the springtime feeling is complete. We stayed here for two nights at a spacious and affordable RV park. No electricity, but a prime location and all the necessary amenities. The entire region feels exceptionally welcoming to RV travelers.

A Relaxing Finale at De Bonterie

On the way back, we made one more special stop at De Bonterie RV Farm in Keiem, near Diksmuide. Farmer Wouter personally welcomes his guests and has turned his property into something truly unique. This award-winning RV park is located on an active farm and offers spacious sites surrounded by nature. Peace, open space, and hospitality are the main priorities. You’ll find water, waste disposal points, Wi-Fi, and optional electricity, along with delicious farm-fresh and local products. For us, this was the perfect way to wrap up five wonderful days on the road.
