The bicycle junction networks in Flanders are constantly being updated to offer cyclists an even better experience. During the winter of 2025–2026, changes were implemented in all Flemish provinces, including new routes, additional junctions, and improved infrastructure.
Thanks to these improvements, cyclists can enjoy greater comfort, clearer signage, and routes that place an even greater emphasis on the experience and safety. The bicycle junction system thus remains the most accessible and versatile way to explore Flanders by bike.
Comprehensive update
The network in Flemish Brabant underwent a major upgrade, with additional kilometers and new connections, while in West Flanders, a large-scale renovation resulted in safer and more attractive routes. Optimizations are also carried out regularly in other provinces to ensure that the entire network is better integrated.
Starting in April 2026, the upgraded network will be ready for cyclists throughout Flanders. From that point on, the signage will be in place, and new route maps and updated route planners will be available online and in cycling apps.
Whereas the signs used to be multicolored, they will now be uniform throughout (on Li

Grouped signs
There are now also grouped signs, so you can see multiple junctions on a single sign: at a glance, you know that you can continue from here to junctions 34, 10, and 62. This reduces the number of posts and individual signs. This is also easier to understand while cycling: the grouped numbers and clear arrow usually eliminate the need to stop or hesitate. It also makes sense at intersections: especially at more complex intersections, this type of sign helps you make decisions faster.
